Editorial Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026 — Revision History
1. Independence Statement
We don't sell solar panels. We don't accept paid reviews that influence our editorial judgment.
PVSize is an independent research publication. Our editorial team makes all content decisions based on publicly available data, product specifications, peer-reviewed research, and hands-on analysis — never at the direction of advertisers, sponsors, or manufacturers.
While we earn revenue through display advertising, affiliate commissions, and B2B services, these commercial relationships have zero influence on:
- Which products we choose to review or feature
- How we rank or rate products in "Best Picks" articles
- The conclusions we draw in market analysis or brand comparisons
- Whether a product receives a positive, neutral, or negative assessment
2. Data Sources & Fact-Checking
All factual claims in PVSize content are supported by at least one of the following authoritative sources:
- NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) — PVWatts, SAM, and published research
- IEA (International Energy Agency) — PVPS reports, global market data
- SEIA (Solar Energy Industries Association) — US market statistics and policy tracking
- State government databases — Incentive programs, net metering policies, interconnection rules
- Manufacturer datasheets — Product specifications (clearly cited when used)
- Peer-reviewed journals — Solar Energy, Progress in Photovoltaics, etc.
Every calculator page and data-driven article includes a "Sources" section linking to the specific datasets used. If a claim cannot be verified against at least one primary or reputable secondary source, it does not get published.
3. Product Review Principles
Our product reviews and "Best Picks" rankings follow these principles:
- Specification-first: Ratings are based on verifiable technical specifications (efficiency, temperature coefficient, degradation rate, warranty terms) — not brand reputation or marketing claims.
- No paid placements: Manufacturers cannot pay to appear in our "Best Picks" lists. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled and segregated from editorial content (see Sponsored Disclosure Policy).
- Generic product references: To avoid trademark disputes and maintain objectivity, we refer to products by generic category descriptions (e.g., "a 400W N-type TOPCon residential panel") rather than specific product line names, except where the company name alone provides sufficient context without invoking a protected trademark.
4. Banned Terms Dictionary (Product Line Names)
To avoid trademark infringement and maintain editorial independence, PVSize does not use the following registered product line names in its editorial content. Company names are not banned — only specific product line trademarks are restricted:
| Brand | Banned Product Line Names |
|---|---|
| LONGi Green Energy | Hi-MO, Hi-MO 5, Hi-MO 6, Hi-MO 7, Hi-MO X6, Hi-MO X10 |
| JinkoSolar | Tiger Neo, Tiger Pro, Tiger, Cheetah, Swan |
| Trina Solar | Vertex, Vertex S, Vertex N, Vertex S+, Vertex NEG19RC.20 |
| JA Solar | DeepBlue, DeepBlue 3.0, DeepBlue 4.0, DeepBlue 4.0 Pro, DeepBlue 5.0 |
| Canadian Solar | HiKu, HiKu6, HiKu7, HiDM, HiHero, TOPBiHiKu, TOPHiKu |
| Risen Energy | Titan, Hyper-ion, NewT@N |
| Tongwei Solar | TNC, THC |
| DMEGC Solar | Infinity |
| GCL System Integration | GCL-M, GCL-P |
This dictionary is publicly maintained and updated as manufacturers introduce new product lines. When referencing these manufacturers in editorial content, we use the company name only (e.g., "LONGi" instead of "LONGi Hi-MO 6").
5. AI Assistance Disclosure
Some PVSize content is produced with the assistance of AI language models. All AI-assisted content undergoes mandatory human editorial review before publication. Specifically:
- AI tools may be used for initial drafting, research summarization, and data structuring
- A human editor reviews every AI-generated draft for factual accuracy, clarity, and editorial tone
- All data claims are independently verified against primary sources by the editorial team
- Calculator logic and outputs are manually tested and validated
We do not publish AI-generated content without human review. No exceptions.
6. Corrections Policy
If we discover a factual error in published content, we correct it promptly and transparently:
- Minor corrections (typos, formatting) are made silently
- Substantive corrections (data errors, incorrect claims) are made with a dated correction note appended to the article
- Readers can report errors by emailing xhs13689060096@gmail.com
7. Revision Date Mechanism
Every page on PVSize displays a "Last updated" date. This date reflects the most recent substantive content review or update. Pages are reviewed on the following schedule:
- Calculator pages: Reviewed quarterly for data freshness and methodology updates
- Buying guides & Best Picks: Reviewed every 6 months for product availability and pricing
- Policy & incentive pages: Reviewed quarterly or upon major legislative changes
- Market analysis & Insights: Publication date stamped; not retroactively updated (archival)
